About Marylouise

Hi, I'm Marylouise. I'm glad you're here.

Reaching out can be the hardest part. Before you ever pick up the phone, I want you to have a sense of who you'd be talking to, because the right fit matters more than anything else.

My story

A psychotherapist first, and a real person too.

I became a psychotherapist because I believe people are far more capable than they feel in their hardest moments. Over the years I've sat with people through anxiety, burnout, grief, big life changes, and the quiet weight of just not feeling like themselves, and I've watched them find their footing again.

I live and work in Pictou County NS. I have 34 yrs experience in the counselling field and have a Masters Degree in Education with a focus in Counselling Therapy. I am registered with both the NS College of Counselling Therapy and with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.

I provide counselling services both in person, on the phone and virtual in a confidential secure environment. I would like to introduce walk and talk therapy in nature for those who are interested. My goal is to move at your pace and provide you with a service where you feel heard and understood with compassion and skill.

I will also provide a sliding scale rate for those who need it.

We work together

You're the expert on your own life. I'm here to walk alongside you, not to hand down answers, but to help you find your own.

Built on your strengths

I'll help you notice the resilience you already have, and build on it, rather than dwelling only on what feels broken.

Common questions

The things people often
wonder.

Do I need a referral to book?

No referral is needed. You can reach out directly by phone, text, or the contact form, and we’ll take it from there together.

It’s a relaxed, no-pressure chat. You can ask questions, share a little about what’s going on, and get a feel for how I work. There’s no cost and no obligation to book afterwards.

Sessions run about 50 minutes. We’ll settle into a rhythm that suits you, weekly, every couple of weeks, or simply as needed.

Both. I offer secure video sessions to clients anywhere in Canada, in-person sessions in Pictou County, NS, and walk-and-talk sessions outdoors in the warmer months.

Yes. Sessions are confidential and handled in line with Canadian privacy law. No client information is stored on this website.

That’s completely okay, most people feel that way at first. There’s no commitment, and you can pause or stop at any time. The free call is a gentle place to start.

Not sure where to start?
That's okay.

I offer a free 15-minute phone call so we can meet, you can ask questions,
and we can see if working together feels right, no
pressure, no commitment.
