Therapy Approaches
Trauma Therapy
Compassionate, trauma-informed counselling for adults carrying the weight of difficult or overwhelming experiences: past or present.
What we'll work on
Practical work, grounded in
your real life.
01
Find safety and steadiness
Before we go near anything difficult, we build the grounding and coping tools that help your nervous system feel safe enough to do this work.
02
Understand your responses
We look at how trauma has shaped your reactions : the triggers, the shutdown, the hypervigilance as a nervous system that learned to protect you.
03
Process at your pace
Together we work through what happened, always at a speed your system can handle, never pushing further or faster than feels safe.
What it is
Trauma Counselling:
Trauma can affect every part of your life, including your relationships,
emotions, physical health, sense of safety, and ability to enjoy everyday
experiences. Whether your trauma resulted from childhood experiences,
domestic abuse, a serious accident, loss, medical trauma, workplace stress,
or another distressing event, healing is possible.
Trauma often leaves lasting effects that may include anxiety, depression,
panic attacks, flashbacks, nightmares, emotional numbness, difficulty
trusting others, low self-esteem, irritability or felling constantly on
alert. These reactions are normal responses to overwhelming experiences-
they are not signs of weakness.
My approach to trauma counselling is compassionate, collaborative, and tailored to your individual needs. Together we work at a pace that feels safe and manageable while helping you understand how trauma has affected your thoughts , emotions, behaviours, and nervous system. Therapy focuses on building emotional regulation skills, reducing distressing symptoms, developing healthy coping strategies, and restoring a greater sense of safety, confidence and control.
I provide a supportive , non judgemental environment where you can explore your experiences without pressure or fear of being overwhelmed. You remain in control of the therapeutic process at all times.
You do not have to face trauma alone. If you are ready to begin your healing journey, I am here to support you every step of the way.
You don't have to have it all figured out to begin. You just have to begin.
